Maserati built their first complete car in 1926, the Maserati Tipo 26 which had a supercharged 8 cylinder 1.5Ltr engine and competed in the Targa Florio. In 1937 the Maserati brothers sold the company to the Orsi family who wanted to build road cars. However, in 1956 the 250F debuted and took the F1 championship the following year. Since then other classics including the Birdcage, Quattroporte, Biturbo are the more recent MC12 have all been sold by this prestigious marque.
